Arteta gives Everton a good chance to keep their head above water

Current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who ended his playing career in London in 2016, moved to England as a player for Everton eleven years prior. The Spaniard was under contract in Liverpool for over six years, and the situation of his former employer pains him.

Last week, it was revealed that Everton received a ten-point deduction from the Premier League for breaching Financial Fair Play rules. Although the club has appealed, they enter matchday 13 as the 19th team in England.

'I feel very connected to the club, and this is a very difficult moment for me,' Arteta expressed his sorrow during the press moment of his current employer, Arsenal. 'This puts Everton in a very difficult position. But they have had tough times before and have always managed to bounce back,' said a hopeful Arteta.

The Spanish coach, whose Arsenal team is currently third and will face Brentford in the Premier League this weekend, knows that Everton will do everything to maintain their long-standing presence at the top level. Everton last played in the second tier of English football in 1954. 'If I had to describe Everton's qualities, it would be determination and fighting spirit. They take on every battle, and I wish them all the best.'
