Atalanta welcomes back Hateboer after nearly seven months.

Atalanta Bergamo's coach Gian Piero Gasperini will have the immediate availability of Hans Hateboer in the new season. The Dutchman has been recovering from a serious knee injury since last winter but is now returning to the match squad.

For Hateboer, tragedy struck in February of this year during the league match against Lazio. He suffered an injury and was substituted in the second half, with news later confirming a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

After undergoing surgery, he went through the rehabilitation process, which Hateboer has now completed.

In the league match against Sassuolo, Hateboer can make his official comeback for Atalanta. This means that there will be four Dutch players on the field for Atalanta. Gasperini has the availability of Marten de Roon and Teun Koopmeiners, just like last season. Mitchel Bakker was acquired from Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Sam Lammers was permanently parted with this summer, as he moved to Rangers FC.
