Immobile had played for Lazio since the summer of 2016. The club from Rome acquired him from Sevilla for a reported fee of around €8.5 million.

At Lazio, Immobile quickly established himself as a key pillar with his goals. His personal highlight came in the 2019/20 season when he won the Golden Boot with 36 goals, surpassing players like Cristiano Ronaldo and earning widespread acclaim. That season, Immobile's incredible scoring ability not only helped Lazio secure a top-four finish in Serie A but also saw him equaling the record for the most goals scored in a single Serie A season.

With Lazio, Immobile won the Italian Super Cup twice, in 2017 and 2019, and the Coppa Italia once, in 2019. His consistent performances made him a fan favorite and a central figure in the team's attack. In 2021, Immobile secured the European title with Italy by defeating England in a dramatic final that went to penalties. This victory was a crowning achievement in his international career, despite the fact that he was never undisputed in the national team. Coach Luciano Spalletti did not even include Immobile in the squad for the European Championship in Germany this summer, a decision that surprised many given his club achievements.

In total, Immobile scored 207 goals in 340 matches in Lazio's sky-blue shirt, making him the all-time top scorer of the club. His remarkable goal-scoring record includes numerous memorable strikes and match-winning performances, which solidified his legacy at the club. Now, at the age of 34, the proven goal scorer is moving to Turkey, where he will play for Besiktas under new coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst. His arrival was grandly announced by the club, signaling their intent to compete at the highest levels both domestically and in European competitions.

Besiktas fans are eagerly anticipating Immobile's impact on the team, hoping that his experience and goal-scoring prowess will lead the club to new heights. The transfer marks a significant step in Immobile's career, as he brings his wealth of experience and goal-scoring talent to a new league. His move to Besiktas is seen as a strategic acquisition by Van Bronckhorst, aiming to bolster the squad with a proven striker who can deliver crucial goals in key matches.
