In Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo defeated Atlético Mineiro 3-0, while in São Paulo, the reigning champions defeated Bahia 2-0.

Artur Jorge's team took the lead in the 13th minute through Luis Henrique and had an easier task from the 24th minute when the visitor Igor Rabello received a straight red card. With a numerical advantage, Botafogo controlled the game and added two more goals in the second half. Cuiabano scored in the 79th minute, and Venezuelan Jefferson Savarino added another in the 90+4 minute to complete Botafogo's scoring.

In São Paulo, Palmeiras secured their victory with a goal at the end of the first half by the young Estévão in the 45+3 minute. With these results, Botafogo and Palmeiras now have 30 points, just one point behind the leader Flamengo, who drew 1-1 against Cuiabá on Saturday. Flamengo's draw provided an opportunity for both Botafogo and Palmeiras to close the gap at the top of the standings.

As the Brazilian championship progresses, the competition at the top of the table remains intense. Botafogo and Palmeiras have shown their capability to challenge Flamengo for the title, setting the stage for an exciting race as the season unfolds. Both teams will be looking to maintain their form and capitalize on any slip-ups by the league leaders.
