Chelsea has strengthened the squad for the upcoming season with Axel Disasi. The 25-year-old central defender is moving from AS Monaco to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are paying 45 million euros for the Frenchman. In London, Disasi, who has played four times for the French national team, including three times at the World Cup in Qatar, has signed a contract until mid-2029.

The defender was under contract with the Monégasques until mid-2025.

The arrival of Disasi is good news for manager Mauricio Pochettino, as the Argentinian recently saw Wesley Fofana sidelined for a long time. Disasi's fellow countryman tore his anterior cruciate ligament in preparation and is expected to be out for the entire season.

Last January, Chelsea also did business with Monaco. Then, central defender Benoît Badiashile made the move from the Stade Louis II to London.
