“It’s a fantastic match for me; it’s going to be special playing against Milan,” Donnarumma shared during the press conference on the day before the game at Parc des Princes, where he’ll face the team he played for from 2013 to 2021. “But I need to set aside my emotions and focus on the match. I played there for eight years and I will be eternally grateful for that.”
Donnarumma is aware that the match against the Serie A’s second-placed team won’t be an easy one. “It’s going to be an important and difficult game. I know how Stefano Pioli (Milan’s coach) prepares and we have to be careful. We’ve also prepared well ourselves, in all aspects,” he reassures the supporters of his current club.
His previous club’s fans might be less pleased to hear him speak – Donnarumma has played in Milan with the national team twice, receiving a less than warm welcome on both occasions. “Yes, I find that a shame, because I always gave my all for Milan. But I mustn’t think about that now,” he strictly tells himself.
The match in Paris is significant for what comes next in Group F. PSG is in second place with three points from the first two matches, while Milan is just a point behind in a challenging group that also includes Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund.
