'I think it's a fantastic draw. It's also my first time and for Feyenoord, it's not a common occurrence either. In that case, you hope for a Champions League-worthy draw, and we've managed that quite well with the opponents we've been drawn against. They are clubs with rich traditions, great stadiums, and passionate supporters,' Slot said at the press conference about the draw.

Slot sees possibilities for Feyenoord in the group stage. One of the advantages is that he's familiar with Lazio. Feyenoord played against them last season in the Europa League. 'I believe Lazio approaches the Europa League differently from the Champions League, as they rested some players. They won't do that in the Champions League. It was a team we could measure ourselves against. I find Celtic hard to assess as I've never played against a Scottish club. We played against Atlético Madrid two years ago, a club that has to compete against the big money of Real Madrid and Barcelona but occasionally manages to achieve success with a championship.'

That happened during the preseason. After the match, Slot and coach Diego Simeone had a disagreement. 'It was a unique moment that you don't often see, especially after a friendly match. I pointed out that this club doesn't have friendly matches and wants to win everything. That's his strength and the strength of his teams. As far as I'm concerned, it's a footnote; what was more beautiful for me was that we won that match.'
