The French national football team traveled this Thursday to Hamburg, the German city where they will face Portugal.

After eliminating Belgium in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024 a 1-0 victory with an own goal by former Benfica player Jan Vertonghen the team led by Didier Deschamps, the current World Cup runners-up, will face the Portuguese team at 8 PM this Friday, the 5th, at the Volksparkstadion, in a quarter-final match of the 17th edition of the continental tournament.

This matchup is highly anticipated as both teams have a rich history in European football. France, boasting a squad filled with talent like Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, and N'Golo Kanté, will be looking to continue their strong form and secure a spot in the semi-finals. Portugal, on the other hand, will rely on the experience of Cristiano Ronaldo and the skill of emerging stars like João Félix and Bruno Fernandes.

It should be noted that in the last two times Portugal faced the French team in European Championships, they did not lose: in 2016, they triumphed in the final held in Paris with Éder's memorable goal in extra time (1-0); and in 2021, at Euro 2020, they drew 2-2 in the group stage, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both scoring twice.

This history adds an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming match, as Portugal will aim to continue their unbeaten streak against France in Euros, while the French team will be eager to avenge past results and advance further in the tournament. The game is expected to be a tactical battle, with both sides showcasing their strategic prowess and individual brilliance.

Fans from around the world will be tuning in to see this clash of titans, as two of Europe's football powerhouses vie for a place in the semi-finals. The atmosphere in Hamburg is expected to be electric, with passionate supporters creating an unforgettable setting for this crucial encounter.
