For a brief twenty minutes, 1. FC Köln harbors the illusion of being able to stop Kane on Friday. With seventeen goals from the first eleven games to his name, all eyes are on the striker. Yet, he manages to do it again. The Englishman is in the right place at the right time and pokes the ball into the net from close range. Number eighteen.

Number eighteen in twelve games. Dizzying numbers. No one in the Bundesliga has ever achieved this feat before, not even the illustrious Gerd Müller. Müller's record of seventeen goals in the first twelve league games stood for a whopping 48 years. Until Friday night. On a relatively modest Bayern evening, it's enough to defeat low-flying Köln. For context: Köln, as a team, has scored only half the total number of goals Kane has this season.

In Cologne, coach Thomas Tuchel is not taking any chances. The manager does not make any substitutions, which is quite unique since his predecessor, Louis van Gaal, was the last to do so for Der Rekordmeister. On December 11, 2010, Van Gaal was the last coach who didn't make any substitutions during a whole game for Bayern.

One hundred days, one hundred percent score

Where Tuchel is sure, however, is about Kane. He tells Kicker, which took stock after Kane's first hundred days in Germany, 'I was always clear about what he could do. There was never any doubt when we got him. Scoring goals, setting up goals, he can do that on any football field in the world. We took the captain of the English national team from the Premier League. Actually, we can pat ourselves on the back.'

'A hundred days have passed since Kane's arrival,' wrote Kicker. The German sports media is impressed. 'The analysis is currently quite simple: Tuchel was right. One hundred days, one hundred percent score. It couldn't be better than this.'

Kane himself remains modest about it. After the victory at Köln, he was mostly relieved, as he told DAZN. 'It was an important game for us. The game might not have looked great, but we won. I would have liked to score a few more goals, but that's not what it's about. After the international break, it's especially nice that we won again right away.'
