Mohammed Kudus earned respect with his goal against Arsenal on Wednesday night. The Ghanaian, just like Edson Álvarez, joined West Ham United from Ajax last summer and made a significant impact in the cup match.

"It was, ironically, the players that David Moyes brought in from the €116 million Rice funds who were the architects of a humiliation that Arsenal had yet to encounter this season," writes The Daily Mail. "Both Kudus and Alvarez were exceptional; they tore through a weak and confused opponent's midfield, opening up the game at will."

Sky Sports also praised Kudus, especially for his goal, giving him and Álvarez both an 8 rating. "Aaron Ramsdale couldn't do anything about Kudus' special goal. The control was beautiful, and the finish was excellent in the far corner."

Thanks to the London victory, West Ham has reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup. "That sounds very good," said standout performer Kudus himself to West Ham's club channels. "After our last game, we had to give a response, and I'm glad we achieved that today. Everyone was at their best, and that's how we secured the win."

"The pass from Nayef Aguerd was so good that I didn't have to do much else," Kudus reflected on his goal. "I want to thank Nayef for that pass. We have many good players in the team. Every time I get the chance, I just want to do what's best for the team."

West Ham United continues their Premier League campaign on Saturday with an away match against another city neighbor, Brentford. In the quarter-finals of the League Cup, the club is drawn against Liverpool. That match will be played in the week of December 18th.
