Several reliable English media outlets report that the reigning English champions have now contacted West Ham. No bid has been made yet, but it's just a matter of time. According to The Guardian, City is willing to offer over eighty million euros for the Brazilian international. While West Ham is not keen on a transfer, Paquetá is eager to make the move.
West Ham acquired the 25-year-old Paquetá last year for just over 42 million euros from Olympique Lyon. In his first year in England, the attacking midfielder, who also has a history with AC Milan, played 41 matches for West Ham. He celebrated his debut season at the club by winning the Conference League. In the Premier League, West Ham fought against relegation for a long time.
At City, Paquetá could contend for titles. Pep Guardiola is quite impressed with his technical abilities and would like to see him join. Earlier this summer, City brought in defender Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig and midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea. This was balanced by the departures of Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli) and Ilkay Gündogan (Barcelona).
West Ham's Acquisitions
For now, West Ham hasn't made any new signings, but that's about to change soon. Edson Álvarez is set to arrive from Ajax, and furthermore, Harry Maguire (Manchester United) and James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) are on their way to London. According to the BBC, West Ham has already reached agreements on transfer fees for all of these players.
