Karim Benzema's situation at Al-Ittihad has attracted significant interest from multiple sides. RMC Sport now reports that Olympique Lyon is attempting to bring back the club's prodigy this month. However, from a financial standpoint, this presents a considerable challenge.

The 36-year-old Benzema made the move from Real Madrid to Al-Ittihad last summer, but rumors of a quick departure from Saudi Arabia have persisted. Benzema is allegedly not enjoying his time there. In a surprising turn of events, he returned from his vacation a whopping seventeen days late last Friday, prompting discussions with the club's management.

Initial reports suggested that Al-Ittihad was not inclined to allow Benzema to leave during the winter transfer window. Lyon aims to investigate whether this stance holds true, as reported in France. Lyon's hope largely hinges on the strong relationship between Eagle, the investment company overseeing Lyon, and Saudi Arabia. However, the financial feasibility of such a transfer remains uncertain.

Lyon has initiated contact with Benzema, who kickstarted his career with the seven-time champion when he was just seventeen years old. During his tenure at Lyon, he scored 66 goals in 148 matches before making a dream transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. While it initially seemed improbable that he would conclude his career at Lyon after his move to Al-Ittihad, there is now speculation that the circle may be completed.
