"It's hard to lose in this way," the United goalkeeper told TNT Sports. "We started very well, but after my mistake, we lost control of the match. It's tough, for the team and for me. I'm the one who let the team down here. We lost because of me. But this is the life of a goalkeeper. We have to move on."
Onana felt that United started well. "We were good on the ball and hardly gave anything away. At their first shot on goal, I made the mistake. I have to learn from this and move on. It's not easy. I'm pleased with the team's fighting spirit, though, as we kept coming back."
In the end, United lost 4-3, their fourth loss in five games. So far, Onana had expected more from his stint in England. "I still have a lot to prove. My start here hasn't been as good as I had hoped. Things aren't going the way I want. This was one of my worst matches. It's tough. This is a big club, and I want to do my best here. We had a great chance to fight back, but we didn't succeed. We have to stick together and learn from this. That's the only thing we can do now."
