On Thursday evening, the French champions published the list of players who are eligible to participate in the group stage of the billion-dollar competition, in which PSG is drawn against Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan.
This list can be supplemented with players under 21, but for Verratti, it means that he will not be able to play in those six matches. It seems irrelevant now because Verratti is reportedly on the verge of a transfer.
Various media outlets report that an agreement with Al Arabi SC is more or less finalized. It would mark the end of eleven years of loyal service for the man from Pescara at Parc des Princes. Verratti will leave the stadium with an impressive list of honors: nine league titles, six Coupe de France titles, and the 2021 European Championship with his national team.
Ekitike is not on the list, but Mbappé is. PSG has registered new signings like Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, Marco Asensio, Ousmane Dembélé, and Bradley Barcola. Also on the list is Kylian Mbappé. It seems that the worst tension between the superstar and his club has dissipated. Notably absent from the list is Hugo Ekitike. The striker is said to be punished in this way for refusing to leave as PSG.
