Slot believes that Feyenoord players took risks with performance before halftime

Arne Slot shows himself moderately satisfied with Feyenoord's victory over PEC Zwolle. The tactician, who had to dot the i's and cross the t's at halftime, believes that Yankuba Minteh fell short in terms of yield.

'Today we played well enough to beat PEC Zwolle, but it was not at the level I would like to see. Especially in the first half, we did not play at the pace I prefer,' Slot reported after the 0-2 victory at MAC³PARK stadium.

Feyenoord took the lead after 21 minutes due to defensive blunders by PEC Zwolle through Santiago Giménez. Nine minutes after the break, the prolific Mexican practically sealed the game.

'We completely dominated the match, but we did take a risk with how we started. I had a feeling of: we must not make a mistake, because today it might be too slow to correct it. We have also played quite a few matches where the opponent’s goal just came out of nowhere.'

After the break, the champions were not in trouble. 'During the halftime, we dotted the i's and came out better.'

If Minteh had occasionally kept a better overview, Feyenoord might have won by larger figures. 'Generally, I think he does have an overview, but today he went for his own chance a lot and did not achieve the maximum yield. He is always threatening because he is so fast.'

Hartman sees a potential pitfall

Quilindschy Hartman admitted that Feyenoord did not play 'its best match.' 'It was good enough for the three points, and with a clean sheet, we can also be satisfied.' The left-back, who reports to the Oranje squad on Monday, thinks that the Rotterdammers were perhaps just a bit less concentrated than during the midweek Champions League match at Atlético Madrid. 'Maybe that's a pitfall. That you think: it will work out like this as well.'
