Tottenham introduced the so-called 'Legacy Numbers' on Thursday. Every player who has ever played a match in the first team has been given a unique number.

In this way, Tottenham wants to honor and remember everyone who has contributed to where the club stands today.

Tottenham played its first official match on October 13, 1894, in the FA Cup tournament against West Herts. All players who have played for the club since then have been given their own 'Legacy Number,' indicating their place in the history of Tottenham. After extensive research by club historians, 879 numbers have now been assigned. Stanley Briggs is number 1, and Alejo Veliz is number 879. Van de Ven is 875.
