Amrabat made his debut four days ago with a brief appearance against Burnley and was given a starting position as left-back by manager Erik ten Hag on Tuesday evening. The Dutch coach was pleased with the Moroccan international's first performance as a starter after the match.

The fact that Amrabat started in a somewhat unfamiliar position didn't bother the former player of, among others, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord. 'It was a perfect evening,' Amrabat told Sky Sports. 'We played well and, more importantly, we won 3-0. Ever since I was a little boy, I've worked very hard to get here. It's amazing to now be able to wear the United shirt. Truly amazing.'

'I told the manager that he can use me anywhere on the field, even in goal if necessary. I played as a left-back today, but in that role, I was also able to move up to the midfield. I like to get on the ball. Naturally, I'm not a typical left-back who runs along the sideline, but in my own way, I was able to help the team,' said Amrabat.

The midfielder, who joined from Fiorentina last summer, aims to make progress at United in the coming weeks. 'I'm not in top shape yet, which is understandable since I didn't have a good preparation for this season due to an injury. However, I have trained hard in recent weeks to be here now. If I continue to play matches, I'll become fitter and stronger.'
