We have some problems heading into Sunday. There are a number of injuries and we hope they'll recover in time," Steijn said on Ajax's club website. "Steven Berghuis, Branco van den Boomen, Benjamin Tahirovic, and Devyne Rensch are all doubtful. I hope the damage isn't too bad."

The suspended Silvano Vos will definitely not be participating at Stadion Galgenwaard, where Ajax hopes to end a dramatic streak. With five points from six matches, the Amsterdammers are currently in sixteenth place.

Nevertheless, Steijn is looking forward to the match against the also struggling FC Utrecht with a positive feeling. 'The international break was good for me and the staff. We continued training with a small group, as most were away. I've watched a lot of matches from our side, FC Utrecht, and our internationals. I saw some great things, and that's positive. They all played a lot of minutes.'

Steijn expects a 'tough game on the edge'. 'Both teams need a win.'
