Weghorst skips the cool-down training and is still a question mark for crucial match

Wout Weghorst did not show himself on the field with the Dutch national team on Saturday. The striker, who was ruled out on Friday evening in the EC qualifying match against France (1-2), stayed behind in the hotel, while the other starting players had a cool-down training on the schedule.

The starting team from Friday did a cool-down run on Saturday afternoon and was supplemented by substitutes Mats Wieffer and Donyell Malen. The other players did complete a group training session.

Weghorst was replaced by Malen in the 38th minute on Friday evening. Earlier in that match, he collided with Antoine Griezmann. The Hoffenheim striker tried to continue for a while, but eventually had to withdraw.

Due to the complaints, Weghorst is a question mark for the match on Monday. Then, Oranje has the important EC qualifying match against Greece on the schedule.

In the run-up to the match against the French, national coach Ronald Koeman was also plagued by injuries in his selection. Other attackers like Cody Gakpo, Noa Lang, and Memphis Depay are also not available due to injuries.
